Boy Scout - Michael through the years

Trail to Eagle

First Grade through Junior Year in High School

Michael Fazi joined Cub Scouts in the first grade and began a journey that has lasted about 11 years. This coming week he will have his Eagle Board of Review and join the ranks of young men who have achieved a great goal.  I am beginning to plan his Court of Honor Ceremony so he'd better pass that Board of Review!

The Road to Eagle is Long!

Moving every closer to Eagle

Hopefully very soon I will be posting a picture of my Eagle Scout. Keep him in your prayers please.

February 22 - New creations by the sisters

Scarf almost finished by Janet
being modeled by Waldo

He thinks this might be a little too girly for him, but
Janet thinks it's cute.  By the way, that shirt the
monkey is wearing is one of my favorites that Michael
wore as a little boy.

Jane created this new market bag and finds
it to be very handy to hold all her yarn

Baby O.I.L. has a new blanket

Baby Onyx Indigo Leedy needs a blanket.  Blanket really is white yarn but it looks light pink in this shot.  Really thick, really soft tri-color with large hook.  Very warm!

New type of yarn to try

My favorite color combo.

February 16, 2013 - Aprons over the years

Sarah Grunow first started to learn how to sew and with lots of scraps and various pieces of stuff she had around the house and an ancient sewing machine, she learned how to make aprons. This one is one she and Kathryn made for Ms. Kyle. They were riding their bikes down there to take it to her.  Bless her heart, she still has it in her kitchen all these years later.
Linda Ramsey is teaching Kathryn how to make her apron.

Cutting out her apron

Momma was also learning to sew and made
a few aprons out of towels.

This was Uncle Mike's fish cleaning and frying apron.

Who says the fourth child gets a raw deal?
I don't think I've ever made a Vday box for a kid before.

I whipped this one up out of a Cream of Wheat box, two
sheets of paper and some of Kathryn's clear tape.
I also made homemade V-Day cards for them, printed them, cut them and remembered to send them to school today. Yep, I'm a hero.

Happy Valentine's Day

I'm so very proud of this next project. It's the first thing I've ever done from a written pattern without seeing it on video and it's the first real full sized project I've started.  It's still a work in progress, but it is so very pretty, soft and unbelievably warm.
This is called a Bobble Blanket.
I'm working on getting a better picture, but
as you can see, it's a full sized one in the works.
I will be adding another peach row and then a copy
of the Little Sunshine multi rows on the other side.

Here you can get an idea of the length on my couch.

This is a close of the bobble stitches.  The yellow is so
much prettier than I thought it would be, but they
were all out of the green.

Happy Ash Wednesday

I love this yarn. It's Bernat Baby Blanket. The center field
is Baby Peach and the outside is Little Sunshine

I made a hand towel for the bathroom, it's so soft

This is a square just to use up some yarn. It's great as a
wiper for the counters.

I think I'm a little obsessed

I got into the making of hats for a little while and made way too many. Kristina, my niece ended up with more baby caps than she'll ever need, I mailed one to my brother (see below) and made one per the request of my daughter, Emily. (She loves it).  I had to take a break and move onto different projects, so tomorrow you will see what I've been working on now. I created all these hats by watching YouTube instructions.  The next thing I'm making is from an actual written pattern that I figured out how to read. Very proud of myself.

My brother Mike (he's really not crazy)

She says it's very warm, but a little itchy

Catching up on posts

I have been out of town for the weekend scrapbooking, so I haven't been keeping up with my posts on here. My sister's husband tore his Achilles Tendon and is home bound for 4 months without internet, so I don't think she'll be adding things anytime soon.  Looks like it's up to me.

I have learned a new hat pattern that I can successfully make each time. (Unlike my others).  Most exciting for me is the new Ott Light I got at Joann's Fabrics. It was a $100 on sale for 40% off and then they honored a Hobby Lobby Coupon for another 40% off. I really got a great deal and I love it.

Open and bright!

Closed

You can charge the rechargeable battery and then set the light anywhere it's convenient, which means that I can sit on the couch and crochet without having all the room lights on.  I quite love it.

Everyone needs to utilize the coupon policies of JoAnn's.

It's fantastic. They can use the store coupon AND Hobby Lobby and Michael's coupons all on the same order. I saved so much money doing that!

Baby hat

Quilt -- awfully pretty isn't it?

Can you just feel how soft it is?

Underside of the hat.  Very warm.
Now, onto what I've been doing ...

My try at strips

Not finished tucking in the "end threads" but my first attempt in years at strips and a more open pattern.

Head band to go with with scarf.  I used a different pattern.  Next time I would do it with the same pattern.

Can make in a couple of hours

Really soft, really large hook and really fast.  Gift for a friend

Same type of yarn but different stitch.  Easy and fast
